| We have two combat modes: [[guilds:
| * **Warrior** is primarily for offensive attacks and has low defense but high damage potential.
| * **Mentat** is primarily defensive and will allow you to withstand almost any assault.
| Each form has different costs and associated skills. Knowing which mode to use is a large part of a BGW's power.\\

| * Your **blade** is your most important tool and should be wielded at all times. It is a 2-handed type weapon until guild level 100 when it becomes a long-blade type. You may see your current blade'

| ===== Advice ===== | ||
| |||
| ==== Luther' | ||
| - Work on training your [[guilds:
| - Use the combat gskill [[guilds:
| - Increase your levels and stats as exp allows.
| - Kill in the Basin area (e, drink from basin) on Tleilax until they'
| - Check 'ghelp classed'
| - Move on to killing in GP Tower. Train [[guilds:
| - Once you have maxed all four of these gskills you should have a good idea of what BGW is all about.
| |||
| ==== Cens' view how to start in BGW ====
| --- Have the 10,000 xp and 10,000 solaris from the beginning with you:
| - Train [[guilds: | ||
| - Train healing to 5. | ||
| - Use rest of the experience for First Aid, get a atreides to gtrain you in it.
| - Now, **bind** constantly, **victory** after a MOB - you should get glevels very quickly with bind.
| --- // | ||
| |||
| |||
| |||
| --- The above advice from Luther and Cens still holds up pretty well. I will say this is a guild where you absolutely do *not* want to neglect your wskill training. Every one of a BGW's guild skills has a very significant impact on your combat performance. They are at least as important as spending exp on levels and stats. Priorities are roughly victory > healing = prana > mastery, and it's a good idea to max these before moving on to any others. For a bit more information on these core skills and how they impact your early performance:
| |||
| - Victory - Increases all the benefits you get from using victory on a corpse. Maxes very quickly and helpful throughout your advancement.
| - Healing - Makes bind succeed more often and heal for more, but perhaps more importantly,
| - Prana - Makes prana fail less (which is a pretty big deal - it will eventually stop failing entirely) and makes it more effective. Prana is an absolutely core offensive ability and a key source of gxp, so maximizing it is of high importance.
| - Mastery - Increases the benefits you get from mastering your warrior blade (or any other weapon, though your warrior blade is all you'll be using for a long time because it gives you tremendously more benefit than any other weapon will).
