In Fremen terminology, the Tau is the oneness of a sietch community. In the open desert there is heavy reliance on others to help in the survival of the group. The more Fremen, the stronger the Tau. The stronger the Tau, the better the regeneration rate of water and adrenaline. Being in the room together with a fellow Fremen will increase your Tau even more. This is good for fighting together in groups.
