AP Clustering

I know that everyone likes areas that are close to the astroports. It makes walking from point to point very easy, and reduces the amount of time that people have to jump each other from fighting to getting on a ship. However, it's becoming increasingly more difficult to add areas to the game, because everyone's new area has to be closer to the astroport than everything existing so that it gets noticed. Heck, in a couple of years, it'll be such a problem that areas will be buil…

Botting

Botting is an issue that every MUD deals with in one way or another at some point in time. To date, we've outright banned bots, killed them down to level 1, ridiculed their players, and been generally mean to people we suspect are botting. Currently, there are very simple rules that determine whether or not a particular account is botting. To wit, if you have a trigger that starts a fight for you, you are botting.

Description: Guild leadership and the politics system needs to be revamped. We have too few real leaders and the alliances are too static to matter.

Solution 1:

Description: The MUD has been losing old players and not gaining any new players. Thus, the playerbase has gone down drastically over the past 2-3 years. This affects all aspects of the MUD:

	* Less players means less players becoming wizards which means less new wizards. Resulting in no addition of new areas for quite some time. I don't think I have to dig deep into this, everybody knows the consequence of no new wizards and I think Paradox mentioned it in his letter.

CURRENT MUD PROJECTS

GUILD CODE OPTIMIZATION PROJECT

We are in the process of going through old guild code and bringing it up
to modern standards. Throughout the years, there have been many ambitious
guild projects that have brought many fun features to the mud. Unfortunately,
many of these features use a lot of unnecessary resources. We have, in the
past few years, learned how to make leaner, more efficient code and we have
been spending much of our time implementing this type of code.

Mreh says: They are: the dwindling playerbase, the serverside gagging project, the consideration of
allowing botting with heavy restrictions, and the consideration of allowing multi-logging.
Mreh says: The third and fourth points sort of tie into one another, but we'll get there.
